It has been the intent of Rock Solid Teen Center to be distinctly Christian, but ecumenical. After giving the matter serious consideration, we have decided that it is best to publish our statement of faith. We have observed how the YMCA, for example, started out as an energetic evangelistic ministry but now strives to operate by Christian principles. We believe that the Gospel is true and provides the way to eternal life, and is of such great importance, the mission and message cannot be compromised.
Under Article 1.2 our bylaws read: The purposes of Rock Solid Teen Center are: a. To witness and demonstrate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to, elementary, middle school, junior, and senior high youth throughout the United States by means of spoken Word and Christian example.
Article eleven of our bylaws is our statement of faith:
ARTICLE ELEVEN: STATEMENT OF FAITH
11.1 We believe the Bible to be the inspired, authoritative Word of God.
11.2 We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
11.3 We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
11.4 We believe in the salvation of lost and sinful people and their regeneration by the Holy Spirit.
11.5 We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
11.6 We believe in the resurrection of the dead, and that all must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, to give an accounting of our lives, and to receive the consequences of our actions, whether good or bad.
11.7 We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
Our objective is to be orthodox in our beliefs but avoid divisive issues. Again, our focus is on proclaiming the simple message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are inspired by the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 2:1-2, “When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”
It is our hope that if you are a Christian church or ministry you will be inspired by our statement of faith, and know without a doubt that we are a Christian organization and that we stand with you in the faith. If you are a secular, government, or community or represent another faith, we want to help you as best we can. While we believe the Gospel is central, there are many other elements of our Rock Solid program that are of great benefit to youth, in and of themselves.
Our mission is and will remain to help youth build foundations for a lifetime.
In service to Christ,
Rock Solid Teen Center, Board President
